About the Artisanos

Our artisanos have mastered a very old craft specific to the area of Oaxaca. The area is known for a rich culture from its music to it's art to it's cuisine. Oaxaca still has a strong indigenous culture, the Mixteco People are the vast majority of our artisanos.

The Mixteco people have several different local languages and dialects. This has created a unique challenge of communicating with some of our Artisanos that only speak their local Mixteco language.

The areas we work with are very low income, we try to bring them economic opportunity by providing materials and purchasing baskets based on labor which we sell to you at cost.

We understand that some baskets are quite high end, they even require a special process in locating certain types of palms for building the base to create a very strong basket that with a lid takes 7 days to complete.

We do not make a profit on the products, we are only here to provide economic opportunity for the local artisanos. We act as a merchant on behalf of the artisanos in order to give them a far bigger market then their little area.

The only other way you can  find products like this is to go down to the area and purchase them.

How We Price

We've had a few questions regarding our pricing. The prices are non-negotiable.

  • Cost to Ship it to our Office

We do not make money on the products, we simply act as a retailer for our Artisanos.
